Local attractions: The hotel is part of the Yebisu Garden Place complex which is built on the former site of the Nippon Beer Brewery. The complex is home to many fancy shops and restaurants including a Joel Robuchon outpost situated in its own reproduction French Chateau as well as the Tokyo Metropolitan Museum of Photography, the Beer Museum Ebiysu and it is also houses the headquarters of Sapporo Breweries.
Travel tip: Robuchon has a bakery situated below the restaurant in the shopping mall. Lots of tasty sandwiches and pastries. Well worth splurging and picking up a few bits to go especially if you are about the take the 2 1/2 hour bus ride to Narita airport before the long journey home.
Trivia: I bumped into friend and fellow photographer John Naiman as I was crossing the street in Shibuya (read all about it here) on my last afternoon. Hadn’t seen John in a few years as he had moved from New York to Switzerland. Totally random.
